چکیده

We present cluster counts and corresponding cosmological constraints from the Planck full mission data set. Our catalogue consists of 439 clusters detected via their Sunyaev-Zeldovich (SZ) signal down to a signal-to-noise of six, and is more than a factor of two larger than the 2013 Planck cluster cosmology sample. The counts are consistent with those from 2013 and yield compatible constraints under the same modelling assumptions. Taking advantage of the larger catalogue, we extend our analysis to the two-dimensional distribution in redshift and signal-to-noise. We use mass estimates from two recent studies of gravitational lensing of background galaxies by Planck clusters to provide priors on the hydrostatic bias parameter, 1−b. In addition, we use lensing of cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature fluctuations by Planck clusters as a third independent constraint on this parameter. These various calibrations imply constraints on the present-day amplitude of matter fluctuations in varying degrees of tension with those coming from Planck analysis of primary fluctuations in the CMB; for the lowest estimated values of 1 − b the tension is mild, only a little over one standard deviation, while for the largest estimated value it remains substantial. We also examine constraints on extensions to the base flat ΛCDM model by combining the cluster and CMB constraints. The combination appears to favour non-minimal neutrino masses, but this possibility does little to relieve the overall tension because it simultaneously lowers the implied value of the Hubble parameter, thereby exacerbating the discrepancy with most current astrophysical estimates. Improving the precision of cluster mass calibrations from the current 10%-level to 1% would significantly strengthen these combined analyses and provide a stringent test of the base ΛCDM model.

Planck 2015 results - I. Overview of products and scientific results

The European Space Agency’s Planck satellite, dedicated to studying the early Universe and its subsequent evolution, was launched 14 May 2009 and scanned the microwave and submillimetre sky continuously between 12 August 2009 and 23 October 2013. In February 2015, ESA and the Planck Collaboration released the second set of cosmology products based on data from the entire Planck mission, includi...

Reconstructing Sunyaev - Zeldovich clusters in future CMB experiments

We present a new method for component separation aimed to extract Sunyaev-Zeldovich (SZ) galaxy clusters from multifrequency maps of Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) experiments. This method is designed to recover non-Gaussian, spatially localized and sparse signals. We first characterize the cluster non-Gaussianity by studying it on simulated SZ maps. We the apply our estimator on simulated o...

Planck 2013 results . XXIX . Planck catalogue of Sunyaev – Zeldovich sources

We describe the all-sky Planck catalogue of clusters and cluster candidates derived from Sunyaev–Zeldovich (SZ) effect detections using the first 15.5 months of Planck satellite observations. The catalogue contains 1227 entries, making it over six times the size of the Planck Early SZ (ESZ) sample and the largest SZ-selected catalogue to date. It contains 861 confirmed clusters, of which 178 ha...

Triple Experiment Spectrum of the Sunyaev - Zeldovich Effect in the Coma Cluster : H 0

The Sunyaev-Zeldovich (SZ) effect was previously measured in the Coma cluster by the OVRO and MITO experiments, and recently also with the WMAP satellite. We assess the consistency of these results and their implications on the feasibility of high frequency SZ work with ground-based telescopes. The unique dataset from the combined measurements at six frequency bands is jointly analyzed to deter...

The hybrid SZ power spectrum : Combining cluster counts and SZ fluctuations to probe gas physics

Sunyaev-Zeldovich (SZ) effect from a cosmological distribution of clusters carry information on the underlying cosmology as well as the cluster gas physics. In order to study either cosmology or clusters one needs to break the degeneracies between the two. We present a toy model showing how complementary informations from SZ power spectrum and the SZ flux counts, both obtained from upcoming SZ ...
